Wrinkle Treatments
Forehead Wrinkles (“Frown” Lines)
Those vertical “frown” lines between your eyebrows are known as glabellar lines. Many people believe that excessive worrying or frowning cause “Frown” Lines on its own but this is not true.
Those vertical lines between your eyebrows and the vertical ones across your forehead are there because your skin has been damaged by the sun. They’re the result of facial muscles interacting with sun-damaged skin.
The sun breaks down our skin’s collagen and elastin, leaving the skin thinner and less able to regain its former, tighter contour.
Because forehead wrinkles – both the vertical and the horizontal ones -are formed (but not caused!) by muscle movement, using a muscle relaxer, like Botox is an effective way of minimizing their appearance. For deeper lines and folds, a dermal filler, such as Restylane or Juvederm, may also be needed. These treatments are temporary. For lasting results, you’ll need to repeat them every few months or so. However, over time most people need less product, less frequently to achieve the results they want.

Lips and Mouth
Because people tend to focus on our mouth as we speak, the fine lines and deep creases around our mouth are probably the more visible wrinkles and those that we often find most unattractive.
For that reason Lip Enhancing Injections are a very popular choice amongst our patients, particularly in case of smokers or ex-smokers.
Juvéderm is a well know dermal filler proven to last for 6 -12 months. It’s also the first filler of its kind to contain an anaesthetic to make treatment more comfortable. The gel is made from hyaluronic acid – a naturally occurring substance in the skin
Three formulations of Juvéderm® are available to meet the needs of different clients. Juvéderm® ULTRA 3 has been specifically formulated to add volume, shape and definition to the lips leaving them soft and natural looking.
Eye Wrinkles
Eye Wrinkles are often the first to appear.
Did you know that the skin around your eyes is the thinnest on your face? Repeated exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet rays – and the resultant damage to the skin’s collagen and elastin proteins – can cause the skin around the eyes to thin even more. The longer our skin is exposed to the sun, the more translucent it becomes.
Eventually the process causes fine lines to form – the so called “crow’s feet.” These are among the first and most prominent wrinkles to form on the face. But the thinning of the skin can also cause dark circles( or “bags”) to form under the eyes, giving people a perpetually tired look.
Botox is a good way to treat crow’s feet and other wrinkles caused by movement of the facial muscles. Laser treatments can also be highly effective, especially laser resurfacing technologies, such as the Pearl laser. Often a combination of different treatments is the best option.
The Neck
The skin on our neck is among the most neglected on our bodies.
Many of us will never go outside without putting sunscreen on our face, however we often forget to put the sunscreen on our neck as well.
The sun is directly responsible for about 90 percent of the wrinkles and skin problems on the neck.
A variety of treatments are available for people who want to improve the look and feel of the skin on their necks. Thermage and Ultherapy are state of the art skin tightening treatments and amongst the most effective treatment for this delicate area. The best course of action is to consult with a physician who is an expert in skin care. Discuss all your treatment options. And to prevent further damage to your skin, be sure to wear sunscreen on your neck!
Other treatment options for your neck include the following: Laser Skin Resurfacing, IPL, Dermal Fillers
Hands
No matter how well you look after the skin on your face, the backs of the hands will carry the tell-tale signs of ageing.
The skin here gets thinner and we lose fat from this area as we age, which means the veins will get bigger and be more prominent with time. So, although they don’t usually cause any physical problems, veins on the hands can add years to your appearance, particularly if you are very slim. The good news is veins on the surface of the hands can safely be removed leaving you with younger looking hands.
Here at the Private Clinic we have pioneered a new laser treatment for removing veins on the hands known as Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA). We were the very first clinic in Europe to offer this exciting new treatment and our success rate with EVLA is exceptionally high. We also offer foam sclerotherapy and a procedure known as microphlebectomies. Click here for more information.
