Staff Stories: Lauren
Introduce yourself:
My name is Lauren and I’m the Anaesthetic and Recovery Lead at Fitzroy Clinic.
Tell us about your background:
I studied and qualified to be an Operating Department Practitioner at Oxford Brooke’s University in 2017. Operating Department Practitioners (ODP for short) train to work in the three areas of surgery: anaesthetics, scrub, and recovery. After qualifying I worked for the NHS where I gained a huge amount of experience and exposure to different types of surgery.
How long have your worked for The Private Clinic?
I have now worked for The Private Clinic for the past three years and had the opportunity to move around the different clinical sites and progress professionally. I started my career at TPC in the Bristol Clinic where I worked for 1 year. I then moved to London during Covid to work in the Fitzroy Hospital.
What does your role entail?
On a day-to-day basis I work closely with the anaesthetist to give our patients the highest quality of care. I am responsible for checking and preparing equipment and medications for each patient. I play an important role within the team to make sure every operation is as safe and effective as possible. Most importantly, I am the friendly face and a hand to hold before and after surgery.
What do you enjoy about working for The Private Clinic?
I love working for the Private Clinic because I have been offered career progression and extensive training to keep up my knowledge and development. We have a great team at the Fitzroy clinic which always helps working more enjoyable.
