Breast Uplift Specialists London

For many patients, the issues they have with their breasts are not always the size. Many patients are concerned about the loss of volume and general shape of their busts. Lifestyle factors such as pregnancy, breastfeeding and weight loss can cause breasts to appear empty and patients simply want their natural breasts back.

What is a Breast Uplift?

Breast uplift surgery, also known as a mastopexy is a very popular procedure for patients who do not want to have implants and instead improve the appearance of their current breasts.

The surgical procedure is performed under general anaesthetic and involves removing excess skin from the breast and often relocating the areola and nipple to a higher position. The skin is then tightened to achieve a more uplifted position and appearance to the breasts.

Your Breast Uplift Surgery Journey in London

Step 1 – Your Breast Enlargement Consultation

We will see you for a consultation at our premium London clinic. Throughout your stay, our friendly team will be there to make you feel at ease and supported. Our highly skilled Consultant Plastic Surgeons, who have decades of experience, will work with you to understand what you wish to achieve from surgery and after evaluating your medical history, current health status, and body type, they will use their expertise to determine the most suitable breast surgery technique.

Following your comprehensive consultation, you will be assigned a dedicated patient coordinator who will provide surgery quotes and available dates for breast uplift surgery.

Step 2 – Your Breast Uplift Pre-Op Assessment

If you decide to go ahead with your breast lift procedure, you will be able to work with your patient coordinator to book a convenient date for your surgery. Once this date is booked, you will need to have a pre-operative assessment.

Your pre-op assessment may take place in-clinic, or over the phone based on your specific requirements. Our medical nursing team will go through your medical history with you and advise on which pre-operative tests are going to be appropriate which may include a blood test, MRSA swab, urine test and blood pressure est. They will also be able to advise you on how best to prepare for your upcoming procedure.

Step 3 – Breast Uplift Procedure

Breast Uplift / Mastopexy surgery is performed under general anaesthetic and takes around 2 hours to perform. An incision will circle the areola, extend downwards, and follow the natural curve of the crease beneath the breast. Excess skin is removed and the areola is moved higher on the breast before the skin is reshaped around the new curve of the breast.

Absorbable stitches will close the incision at the end of the procedure. Patients are required to wear a surgical bra following their procedure which will be supplied to you. We recommend taking 1-2 weeks off work depending on your role and you will need to avoid exercise for up to 6 weeks.

Step 4 – Aftercare

Following your mastopexy procedure, your surgeon will provide their expert aftercare advice and requirements. You will receive a call from our nursing team the day following your procedure, and be invited in for a wound check appointment with our medical team 1 week after your procedure. An appointment with your surgeon will be made for you 6 weeks post-op, however, you can request to see them, or any member of our medical team at any time, all patients have unlimited wound care appointments and surgeon reviews.

Breast Uplift FAQs

Does a breast uplift cause scarring?

The downside of breast uplift can be the scars. Scars after any surgical procedure are unavoidable but our expert plastic surgeons are very proficient in ensuring your scars are kept as minimal as possible. They will offer the best scar care advice post-procedure to help you achieve the best results. Scars usually fade over time but this can take up to a year. The scars after a breast uplift do vary slightly depending on the extent of the procedure but they typically run around the circumference of the areola and then down the middle of the breast into the inframammary fold which is known as a lollipop scar.

Will a breast uplift increase my breast size?

No breast tissue is removed from the breast and no implants are added so overall, the procedure doesn’t tend to cause a significant change in bra size. However, we do recommend getting a fit check from your bra supplier once you have recovered from the procedure to ensure that you are still wearing the best fit as this will help to support and maintain your results.

If you are looking to increase the size of your breasts as well as uplift them, it is possible to have implants as well as a breast uplift. This will be a combined procedure. They can be performed at the same time, but some surgeons do prefer to wait, especially if the implants are significantly larger to allow the incisions from the uplift to heal fully without putting them under pressure from the increased volume of a breast implant.

Is it possible to tighten loose skin on the breast?

A breast uplift procedure is the best procedure for tightening loose skin on the breast. The loose skin will be surgically removed, therefore the breast is tightened and more uplifted. There are a variety of non-surgical skin tightening procedures available including Ultherapy and Thermage. Ultherapy is not currently FDA approved to treat the breast, only the décolletage and whilst Thermage could be used on the breast, the results are not likely to have any significant effect in this area, or they will only be shortlasting.

Can you get a Breast Uplift on the NHS?

Getting a breast uplift usually comes as a result of weight loss, pregnancy and breastfeeding but this doesn’t mean that you are entitled to a procedure on the NHS. Breast uplift NHS procedures are very rare and you would have to be a very extreme case to meet their list of specifications to even be considered for one. A breast lift and boob lift procedures are usually only performed privately making it so important that you do your research to find the best surgeon that listens to what you want to achieve from surgery.
