Dr Raghu Reddy of The Private Clinic of Harley Street recently performed an advanced FUE Hair Transplant on Graham Satchwell, who at age 62 had lost a lot of his hair. Graham is, ironically, the Founder of the British Barber’s Association. On the hair loss scale he was Norwood Scale Stage 7 – the most extensive hair loss category, where hair is usually limited to the edges around the back and sides. These patients present quite the challenge for hair transplant surgeons to achieve a natural-looking, dense result.

Getting It Right
Distribution and density are important for the transplant area and the donor area so the uniform result looks even and natural.
At such later stages and older ages, hair loss tends to have stabilised, unlike patients in their 20s who may continue to experience some further hair loss. This is a big consideration when choosing donor hairs and defining the transplant area, for a hairline that can be maintained in the long-term. There is little point giving a person the hairline of an 18-year old version of them – as they will not be enough hairs to achieve such a result.
