Non invasive Otoplasty: ‘Ear reshaping’ surgery now available at The Private Clinic

Ear Reshaping
Around 1% of the UK population have ears that stick out too much, by medical standards, which is typically at a 30 degree angle or more from the face. Genetics, injury, too much cartilage or underdevelopment of the cartilage are the primary factors involving in protruding ears. Protruding ears can cause psychological issues as well as practical issues, such as wearing a helmet comfortably or the aesthetics of having your hair up.
The Procedure
The procedure will depend considerably on each patient. Typically it involves making an incision along the crease of the ear and repositioning the cartilage by removing pieces in order to pin the ear back.
The procedure only takes up to 2 hours and whenever possible local anaesthetic is used. At our clinic we recommend taking one week off work to recuperate. Unlike many other surgical procedures, the risks of complications are very low and most experience only mild discomfort for a short time. Specific kinds of bandages will be used to afford you as much comfort and ease as possible as you fully heal. Thorough aftercare is offered to support you in your recovery and a full recovery can be expected within two months.
