Wrinkles are unfortunately the most common sign of ageing; they are the folds or creases on your skin and typically appear on areas of the body that have more exposure to the sun. Movement on our face from laughing to frowning will cause our muscles to contract and create wrinkles. Over time these frequent movements together with environmental impacts such sun exposure and pollution can cause lines and wrinkles to form in a more permanent way.
As we age the elastin and collagen in our skin decreases which is the main cause of wrinkles. There is not much we can do to prevent wrinkles from appearing but the best way to delay their appearance is to protect your skin from the sun and harmful UV rays, keep your skin hydrated by drinking water, avoid smoking and follow a good skincare routine. The Private Clinic however can help bring back the youthful appearance with a number of treatment offerings.
Wrinkles generally come under two categories;
Fine Lines – These are typical of sun damage, dehydration, and muscle movement.
Deep Wrinkles – These are typical of more excessive sun damage and collagen break down

Treatments Available
Anti Wrinkle Injections
Anti-Wrinkle Injections are our most common treatment for reducing the appearance of wrinkles.
Anti-wrinkle injections work by blocking the nerve impulse that causes your muscles to contract. The injections are made up of a drug called Botulinum Toxin and can only be performed by a highly qualified nurse or doctor.
Treatment with anti-wrinkle injections can take 20 minutes to complete and we ask that you come for an initial consultation to discuss the treatment first. The initial consultation can be followed directly by treatment if you prefer. It can take 7-10 days to start seeing the results and the treatment tends to last 3 months but this can vary from patient to patient.
Common treatment areas for anti-wrinkle injections include forehead lines, lines between eyes/glabella, crow’s feet/lines around your eyes, neck lines and chin lines.
Anti-Wrinkle Injections are available at our skin clinics in London Harley Street, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Northampton and Buckinghamshire
Dermal Filler
Dermal Fillers are made up of hyaluronic acid suspended in gel and when injected under the skin can improve the appearance of deep wrinkles.
In some cases you may be advised to have a combination treatment of anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers. This will depend where your wrinkles are and how deep they are.
The results from fillers are generally instant although it can take a couple of days for any additional swelling to subside and the true result to be clearly seen. Dermal filler is broken down naturally within the body and can last from 6 – 12 months.

Profhilo
Profhilo is a great treatment for improving the appearance of wrinkles. It is an injectable procedure that stimulates your own natural production of all types of collagen and elastin so it essentially regenerates your skin making it feel more hydrated, lifted and tighter.

Pearl
Our Pearl treatment is a form of Laser Skin Resurfacing that is suitable for treating a range of conditions including lines and wrinkles. The laser essentially removes part of the top layer of skin by creating a number of tiny laser holes. The remaining surrounding skin cells are then encouraged to start rapidly healing which stimulates the production of new collagen which smooths and tightens the skin again. You will continue to produce new collagen for up to 6 months post treatment.
Our Pearl treatment is available in three different forms:
- Pearl Laser Resurfacing – Pearl Laser Skin Resurfacing treatment treats the top layers of skin and deeper layers too. The treatment works to improve the overall quality of the skin by targeting the layers beneath promoting new collagen production.
- Pearl Fractional Laser Resurfacing – Only exposes a small area of the skin. ideal for treating deeper lines and wrinkles. The skin is encouraged to form a protective layer and it’s the body’s healing process that is responsible for the treatment’s incredible results.
- Pearl Fusion – Pearl Fusion is a combination of the Pearl Resurfacing and Pearl Fractional treatments mentioned above. The face will first be treated with the Pearl laser and the Pearl Fractional laser will target areas requiring more aggressive treatment such areas of deep lines and wrinkles.
Pearl Laser Skin Resurfacing treatments for brow and forehead lines are available at our London Harley Street skin clinic.
Dermapen
A dermapen treatment uses multiple needles that vertically pierce the skin to create similar vertical channels into the skin which helps to stimulate new collagen development leaving your skin looking smoother and wrinkles reduced.
The vertical insertions created during the Dermapen treatment causes thousands of tiny holes in the skin causing the release of serum growth factors which stimulate the breakdown of old fibrous collagen which stimulates new collagen and elastin development.
The Dermapen can be easily manoeuvred around the facial contours and the adjustable needle heights mean it is able to reach areas around the nose and mouth minimising skin damage means less pain and redness afterwards.
Dermapen treatment is designed to be a more comfortable procedure than a Dermaroller making it virtually pain-free in comparison. Dermapen maintains intact with the surface of the skin so there is no peeling. Patients can expect to achieve better results with less downtime.
Dermaroller or Dermapen treatment for wrinkles is available at our skin clinics in London Harley Street, Buckinghamshire, Manchester, Birmingham, Northampton and Leeds.
Morpheus8
Morpheus8 is a great treatment for wrinkles. The treatment aims to encourage the production of collagen and elastin through a combination of microneedling and radiofrequency technology.
The treatment involves placing the treatment device over the skin where microneedles will puncture the skin causing micro damage to the skins surface and therefore triggering our skins natural response to repair the damage through the increase of collagen and elastin production. As the microneedles make contact with the skin, radiofrequency waves are emitted which then targets deep into the dermal layers of the skin which helps to tighten the skin from beneath which results in smoother skin with fewer lines and wrinkles.
Morpheus8 treatment for wrinkles is available at our skin clinics in London Devonshire Place and Buckinghamshire,
