About Ms Rieka Taghizadeh
Ms Taghizadeh is a Consultant Plastic Reconstructive & Aesthetic surgeon who graduated from Dundee University Medical School before completing her specialist training in plastic surgery at the Northern Deanery in Newcastle. Following this, she went on to undertake a MicroSurgical Fellowship at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in London, an Oncoplastic Fellowship and travelling Fellowships visiting word-renowned units in Barcelona, Helsinki, Dusseldorf and Singapore. She then completed an Aesthetic Fellowship at the Wellington Hospital in London before commencing her Consultant Post with the NHS in 2015.
Ms Taghizadeh offers a range of plastic surgery procedures; she has a special interest in breast surgery and is a clinical lead for microsurgical breast reconstruction. She performs complex surgery including deep inferior epigastric perforator (DIEP) flap reconstruction. She has gained significant experience in breast corrective procedures including breast asymmetry and tuberous breast correction and as a result, is actively involved in raising awareness of Breast Reconstruction regularly taking part in charity events and television/radio features on the subject.
She is a full member of several professional associations, including BAPRAS, BAAPS, and ISAPS. She also serves as the BAPRAS chair for the national breast special interest group and on the BAAPS council. In addition to being a member of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ISAPS), Ms Taghizadeh serves as the UK’s assistant national secretary and a member of the international residents training committee. She is extensively involved in educational programmes and also serves on the worldwide leadership group.
In her role as BAPRAS chair for Breast, Ms Taghizadeh regularly organises annual scientific meetings in the breast surgery sector. She has over 35 papers in peer-reviewed journals and serves on the Aesthetic Plastic Surgery journal’s editorial board. Ms Taghizadeh is a faculty member of the World Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery and a frequent guest speaker at reconstructive and aesthetic conferences.

As well as technical attention to detail and striving for an ideal outcome, she places great emphasis on making the patients feel comfortable and at ease throughout their journey as well as ensuring all her patients fully comprehend all stages of their procedure.
