Blocked Nose Snoring Treatment

A blocked nose is a very common symptom in the adult population. Experts have noted that people with chronic blocked noses are increasing, especially in cities, due to air pollution. Smokers are also more frequently affected.

If you are suffering from a deviated nasal septum our surgeons may be able to help correct this via a minor Septo-Rhinoplasty procedure or Septoplasty.

Symptoms of a blocked nose may include consistent dry mouth, headaches, impaired smell, and recurrent sinusitis. In some people, the other unpleasant side effect is that they may suffer from snoring.

When your nose starts to block, the natural reaction is to start breathing through your mouth. The downside is that mouth breathing tends to shift the oxygen and carbon dioxide balance. The body, in trying to rectify this balance, causes the nasal passages to become even more constricted making the situation even worse.

The ‘Nasal Cycle’ always means that one side of the nose will be open, the other relatively blocked, from time to time and side to side during the day and night.

Nasal Blockage Rhinoplasty

Plastic surgery used to treat issues with the nose is called a rhinoplasty. While it is frequently performed as a cosmetic operation, it can also aid in enhancing nose function. Breathing issues are improved by opening up the airways with a nasal obstruction rhinoplasty. A consultant may recommend this procedure if there are problems that can be surgically fixed, like small nasal valves and certain kinds of obstructions from the airways.

A typical patient having a rhinoplasty procedure for nasal blockage is likely to have narrow nasal valves. By opening up the nasal passages, breathing should improve and improve symptoms such as snoring. It can also help to reduce the risks of sinus infections, chronic nasal obstruction and sleep apnea.

Nasal blockage rhinoplasty is often combined with a septoplasty which can help to correct a deviated septum. This is where the nasal septum (middle section of the nose) is straightened and repaired to improve airflow through the nose.
