Veins Under Eyes
Veins under the eye can be an unsightly concern for those affected. Lower eyelid skin has a very thin dermis and loss of fat volume in the face as we age can all contribute to protruding or visible veins under the eye.
Under eye veins will need to be assessed by a medical professional to establish if they can be treated, as the area around the eye is particularly sensitive and unsuitable for the similar treatments for other facial and body veins.
If you are suitable, under-eye thread vein treatment is performed using a laser device called Cutera CoolGlide. The treatment involves pulses of light energy carefully directed at the vein, which causes the blood within it to coagulate. This leads to the destruction of the blood vessel which is reabsorbed by the body. Meanwhile, blood flow is redirected to deeper veins in the face.
The treatment typically takes 15-30 minutes. A cooling gel is all that is necessary during the procedure.

After your treatment
The results should be noticeable immediately.
There is no scarring and minimal downtime associated with the procedure.
You can return to work immediately.
In some cases, slight reddening and local swelling of the skin may occur. These effects typically last for less than 24 hours.
We recommend avoiding strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours after treatment and using sun protection on the treated areas is highly recommended for at least 4-6 weeks but ideally it should be used everyday as part of a good skincare regime.
FAQs
Patients report mild to moderate discomfort during the procedure. It will not last long and many people return to work immediately. Even wearing glasses should not affect the procedure soon after.
